Study on Norepinephrine Receptor of the Rabbit Brain

Abstract
1. Effects of various blocking agents, reserpine and desmethylimipramine on the blood pressure response to intraventricular norepinephrine were investigated in rabbits.
2. Intraventricular norepinephrine (500 ?g) produced pressor responses.
3. The pressor responses to the intraventricular norepinephrine were markedly inhibited by intraventricular phenoxybenzamine, and slightly inhibited by intraventricular yohimbine. The responses were not affected by regitine, ergotamine and chlorpromazine.
4. Intraventricular reserpine did not affect the pressor response to the intraventricular norepinephrine. The pressor responses of the reserpine-pretreated rabbits to the intraventricular norepinephrine were much greater than in non-treated rabbits, and dose-dependent.
5. Intraventricular desmethylimipramine potentiated markedly the pressor responses to the intraventricular norepinephrine, which were dose-dependent.
6. The existence of the adrenergic receptor concerning the regulation of the blood pressure in the rabbit. brain was suggested.
